parkwood_small Concord survived some costly turnovers to defeat Parkwood 30-19 Friday night at the Rebel's Homecoming.

Concord took the opening kickoff and drove down the field propeled by a 24 yard run by fullback Mike Moore on the first play from scrimage. Matt Beecher fell on a fumble in the endzone for a Spider touchdown.

After a Parkwood punt the Spiders rolled down the field and into scoring position only to fumble near the Rebel goalline.

Parkwood's lone offsensive TD came on a 66 yard touchdown pass from QB Josh Bolick to TB Justin Funderburk.

Parkwood took the lead when Dee Bost fumbled and the ball fell into the waiting hands of Rebel linebacker Forest Rorie who returned it 10 yards for a score.

Parkwood recovered a short kickoff after the Spiders couldn't field it but could not advance against the Spider defense.

On the next possession Dee Bost hit Dustin Burris for a 55 yard gain to setup a Bost keeper for a touchdown.

Concord added a Chad Myers fieldgoal for a 17-13 halftime lead.

In the third Concord's offense contiued to rack up yardage as TB Roger Smith scored a 5 yard TD.

Parkwood recovered another Concord fumble and scored to get back within 5 points but would get no closer. Concord's offense took the ball down the field again and put the game away with Mike Moore's 3 yard touchdown with less than two minutes to play. Thomas Pack ended any hopes for the Rebels with an interception and 29 yard return.

Roger Smith turned in another strong rushing game with 145 yards on 22 carries. Fullback Mike Moore also added 44 yards rushing including a TD. QB Dee Bost was 10-20 for 162 yards. Bost also added 2 rushing TDs.

The defense continued their strong play limiting the Parkwood offense to 155 yards and 1 touchdown. Delano Johnson led all defenders with 5 tackles.

Concord hosts Kannapolis next Friday in the annual Battle for the Bell.
