tony_moore_web The Spiders took to the road Friday night and defeated Marvin Ridge 35-7 at Maverick Stadium in Waxhaw.

Concord got on the board first as quarterback Sean Willix scored on a 9 yard keeper after a Marvin Ridge punt. The first quarter would end with Concord up 7-0.

Early in the 2nd Marvin Ridge would answer with a 35 yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 7-7. The Mavericks would then recover a Concord fumble but fail to convert as Spider defender Frank Lockovitch would pick off a pass. Later in the 2nd quarter Concord would add another score as Tony Moore would call his own number on a 1 yard run. The first half would end with Concord ahead 14-7.

In the 3rd quarter Roger Smith added a touchdown on a 20 yard screen pass. That possession was setup when cornerback Tony Moore picked off a Marvin Ridge pass. Moore would add another interception, setting up the Smith and the Spider offense in Marvin Ridge territory. Roger Smith would add another touchdown run, this time covering 12 yards. Quarterback Sean Willix would close out the scoring with a 43 yard pass to Jared Nash.

Spider quarterback Sean Willix went 6-12 with 2 touchdowns. Tailback Roger Smith had 18 carries for 137 yards and a touchdown. Cornerback Tony Moore added 2 interceptions for the Spider defense. Nathaniel Sedergren and Marcus Rouse each recorded 9 tackles.

Concord returns to action next Friday as they host Parkwood on Senior night. Kickoff is 7:30PM at Robert C. Bailey Stadium.
