Hickory Ridge tops Spiders PDF Print E-mail

roger_hrHickory Ridge rode the passing and running of senior quarterback Brett Lilly to top Concord 33-14 Friday night at Hickory Ridge Stadium.

Concord struck first as Sean Willix hit Will Propst for a 22 yard touchdown. Early in the 2nd quarter Hickory Ridge would grab control of the game with an 80 yard touchdown pass. After an interception by the Bulls defense Lilly would add a one yard touchdown run to put Hickory Ridge up 12-6. On the ensuing posession Concord drove down the field but came away with no points as Brandon Barnhardt's 35 yard field goal came up just a bit short. Hickory Ridge took advantage of the opportunity and put together a drive capped by another short Lilly touchdown run. The half ended with Hickory Ridge up 19-6.

Hickory Ridge took the 2nd half kickoff and picked up where they left off in the 1st half. The Bulls drove more than 80 yards and added another Lilly touchdown run. After a Concord punt the Spider defense appeared to have Lilly contained but he escaped and found an open receiver in the endzone to put the Bulls up 33-6. Concord would add a touchdown on a Roger Smith run in the 4th.

Sean Willix finished 15-38 for 239 yards with 3 interceptions and one touchdown. Will Cowan had 4 receptions for 112 yards. receiving    

The Spiders host Porter Ridge Friday at Robert C. Bailey Stadium. Kickoff is 7:30 PM.
