rogerphotobyhollyConcord used a second half rally to beat Porter Ridge 28-24 Monday night at Robert C. Bailey Stadium.

The Spiders took the opening kickoff and marched to a 6-0 lead on a Sean Willix 7 yard run. Porter Ridge answered with a long drive capped by Ray Stanifer's pass to Tumani Washington. The first quarter ended with the Pirates ahead 7-6.

Early in the second quarter the Pirates would add a 30 yard touchdown from Stanifer to Jamonta Pettiway. On the ensuing drive Concord turned the ball over on downs. Porter Ridge was driving but a sack by Concord linebacker Bradley Phillips would force a 52 yard field goal by Pirate kicker Matt Black. Black's kick cleared to put the Pirates ahead 17-6 at the half.

Porter Ridge took the second half kickoff but the drive was stopped when Bradley Phillips intercepted a Stanifer pass. Concord attacked on the ground with Roger Smith adding 2 spectacular runs. The drive was capped by Bam Phillips 5 yard touchdown run. Sean Willix added a run on the 2 point conversion. The Concord defense struck again when Wesley Scott recovered a Pirate fumble at the Porter Ridge 18 yard line. The Spiders scored two plays later on Roger Smith's 13 yard touchdown. The Pirates answered with a 62 yard drive capped by a short touchdown pass to tight end Tim Litton to end the quarter with a 24-21 Pirate lead.

In the 4th quarter Evann Carpenter would setup the go ahead score with a 46 yard punt return. Concord would take the lead on a Willix keeper. On the ensuing possession Evann Carpenter picked off a Stanifer pass and returned it to midfield. The Pirates defense forced a Concord punt. Brandon Barnhardt's punt was downed at the 2 yard line. As time expired the Pirates were near midfield.
