The Spiders will host the Asheville Cougars in the second round of the NC 3A playoffs Friday at Robert C. Bailey Stadium.

The last time the teams met was the thrilling come-from-behind win for the Spiders in the 2004 regional final. Concord trailed in that game 20-0 with less than 6 minutes to play. The Spiders completed a furious comeback behind QB Tommy Beecher to win 21-20 in a game Concord fans will never forget. Concord went on to win the State 3A Championship over Wilson Hunt. Concord also faced Asheville in the 1999 regional final at Memorial Stadium in Asheville. The Cougars prevailed in that meeting 17-8.

This year's edition of the Cougars were Co-Champions of the Mountain Athletic Conference along with Franklin. They are currently on a 5 game winning streak. Last week they defeated Fred T. Foard 35-7. The Cougar's Head Coach is Danny Wilkins. For more information on the Cougars visit the Cougar Sports Network.

The Spiders enter the game on a 9 game winning streak. Last week they defeated RS Central 39-9 in the first round of the 3A State playoffs.

Kickoff is 7:30PM at Robert C. Bailey Stadium. The game can be heard locally on WEGO 1410 AM. Prepalert.com will have an internet feed of the WISE 1310AM (Asheville) broadcast of the game.
