Head Coach Glen Padgett is a graduate of James F. Byrnes High School(1980) and Wofford College(1984). Coach Padgett returns to CHS with an outstanding reputation as a classroom teacher and mentor and a great football coach having experience from the following schools:
- James F. Byrnes High School - Duncan, SC: Assistant Coach 1985(State Runner-up) & 1986(State 4A Champion)
- Concord High School - Assistant Coach 1987-1998 Athletic Director 1989-1998
- Salisbury High School - Head Coach 1998-1999
- Northwest Cabarrus High School - Head Coach 1999-2002
- North Mecklenburg High School - Head Coach 2002-2009
Coach Padgett has served as a U.S. History teacher, Leadership and Student Council Advisor, and dropout prevention coordinator.
Some of Padgett's other accomplishments include:
- Four- time Who’s Who Among American Educators
- 1999 Independent Tribune Football Coach of the Year
- 2005-2006 President, North Carolina Football Coaches Association
- 2003-Present, Member of the Metrolina Athletic Officials Association Board of Directors
- 2006 MECA 4A Conference Football Coach of the Year
- 2008 North Carolina Coaches Association East-West All- Star Football Game Assistant Coach
- Six- time SPC Tennis Coach of the Year(1991 State 3A Champions)
